About Belvidere, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Belvidere is a city in Boone County, Illinois, United States with a population of about 25,000. It is the county seat and a part of the Rockford, Illinois Metro Area. The small community has a rich and fascinating history which is why the Historic Preservation Commission encourages the conservation of historically and architecturally significant structures and areas around the city. You can see the history and tradition of the town everywhere that you go. There is something incredibly warm about this community, even on the coldest, snowy day in the winter.
One such special and well-preserved building is Pettit Memorial Chapel which was designed by the ingenious Frank Lloyd Wright. This is definitely a very significant historical structure because it was the only building that Wright ever designed for a cemetery. There are also the Lampert-Wildflower House, and the Belvidere Post Office listed on the National Register of Historic Places. If you visit on a warm spring or summer day, you should definitely take some time to walk around the city and enjoy the beautiful architecture. There are also lovely community parks to enjoy, including: Spencer Park, Belvidere Municipal Park, and the Boone County Fairgrounds.
Belvidere is known as the "City of Murals" because of an ongoing project for over a decade including many amazing and unique murals by local and international artists. A reflection of the city's rich history, they are a point of pride for the city and have great artistic and historical significance for the residents of this town. 350 sign artists from all over the world painted over 6,000 square feet and ten murals in the downtown business district in 3 days. Since then, the town has invited many more amazing artists to fill their community with color, culture, history and tradition. The streetscape mural, for examples, shows downtown Belvidere and some of the businesses that occupied those buildings in history. Walking around enjoying the art that literally covers the town is a great way to spend a pretty day in spring or fall when it is neither too hot nor too cold.
